Animal Human Hybrid Acrylic Painting (High School)

The objective was to think of a favorite animal and a certain mood or emotion the students wanted to convey. When students were well into the painting process I prepared Artist Interpretations for them. Each student was to choose a work that was not theirs to interpret.

Mythical Creature

In this project students first sketched a mythical creature and then built one out of plaster strips. After they painted their creature they wrote a short story about it

Lesson Plan Painting Static Animals and Animals in Motion (High School)

In this lesson I let students choose any static animal and paint it in acrylic. This took them, one full band. The next day I had students paint the same animal in motion and gave them five minutes (timed) for their painting. The objective was not to paint a realistic and detailed painting but to focus on expressing motion.

I created this lesson plan for a level 2 drawing class in art history. Students had the opportunity to research any portrait artist in a given time period. They then plugged their research into a slideshow I prepared for them and presented these slides to each other.

In this lesson plan, I talked with students about the history of Japanese tattoos and used two templates I created for them to practice creating value in their drawings. This was a mini-lesson.

In this mini-lesson I talked with students about how they can show emotions in their drawings. I asked them to find an everyday object and express one emotion through their medium and art style. They then shared their work with each other, trying to guess what emotion each artist tried to convey.
